Reports from individuals close to Javad Alikordi, a lawyer currently imprisoned in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, indicate that there has been no information about his condition for more than 15 days.
According to these reports, Alikordi was arrested approximately six months ago after attending a memorial ceremony for his brother, Khosrow Alikordi, and protesting the authorities’ handling of the event. He has since remained in custody with limited access to his family.
Sources close to the family say that after a period of interrogation in solitary confinement at the Mashhad Intelligence Department detention facility, Alikordi was transferred to Ward 6/1 of Vakilabad Prison. However, he continues to face restrictions on phone calls and family visits.
The same reports have rejected claims that he has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, stating that no court hearing has yet been held in connection with his case.
Javad Alikordi is the brother of Khosrow Alikordi, a human rights lawyer who died in Mashhad in December 2025. His family and human rights activists have described the circumstances surrounding his death as suspicious.
