Iran to continue missile tests following US allegation

Iran declared on Sunday that the aim of its missile program is defensive and that the country would continue missile tests despite the US allegation against Tehran.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Saturday condemned Tehran’s testing of a medium-range ballistic missile, which is in violation of the 2015 international agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.

Iranian top military official and spokesman for Iran’s armed forces, General Abdolfazl Shekarchi, was quotes by local media on Sunday, saying that “the missile tests are carried out for defense…we will continue this.”

US president Donald Trump and his administration has a special focus on Islamic Republic’s missile program and transferring weapons to its proxy forces.

US Iran envoy, Brian Hook, warned last week that his country will not hesitate to use force against Tehran if necessary.

Earlier US National Security Adviser John Bolton tweeted “Iran just test-fired a…ballistic missile capable of reaching Israel and Europe. This provocative behavior cannot be tolerated.”

Trump pulled out of the 2015 Iran Nuclear deal in May, called the deal “worst ever” agreement, which was signed during Barak Obama’s administration.
