Two young Kurdish activists from Kermanshah, Sajjad Veysi and Shayan Veysi, who are cousins and followers of the Yarsan faith, have been charged with “enmity against God” (moharebeh) by Iran’s Revolutionary Court. They face the risk of severe sentences, including the death penalty.

Sajjad Veysi is the brother of Meysam and Mojtaba Veysi, two well-known Kurdish cultural activists. On May 28, 2026, the two brothers were killed in Dalahu after being shot by members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to reports.

According to sources familiar with the case, Sajjad Veysi and Shayan Veysi have been accused of armed opposition against the Islamic Republic based on allegations put forward by security agencies and on confessions allegedly obtained under torture.

Shayan Veysi was arrested during the January 2026 protests. Sajjad Veysi was arrested on February 22, 2026, while traveling from Dareh Derij to Sarpol-e Zahab on his way to visit his wife's family home.

He was reportedly detained by government security forces.
