At least three members of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGCs) have reportedly been detained by ISIS militias in the Syrian city of Deir Ezoor, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Sunday.

According to the source, ISIS militias set up an ambush for members of IRGCs in al-Mayadin desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezoor.

A similar trap was conducted by ISIS against the Iranian forces in the past few days in Syria.

Iran has highly invested in the Syrian war and have its own military bases in the country. Iranian forces are actively participating in the war, supporting Bashar Assad’s army.
