On Tuesday, May 26, Marco Rubio called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and warned the Iranian government that if it failed to comply, the strait would be reopened “by any means necessary.”

Rubio, who was traveling to New Delhi to participate in a four-nation security forum, told reporters aboard his aircraft: “The straits must remain open. They will be opened by any means necessary… What is happening there is illegal; it is unlawful, destabilizing for the world, and unacceptable.”

At the same time, Donald Trump shared an image of himself on Truth Social with the phrase: “Peace Through Strength.”

The idea of “Peace Through Strength” has been described as one of the central doctrines of the current U.S. administration’s foreign policy approach toward the Islamic Republic. The concept is based on the idea that maintaining sufficiently strong military capabilities can function as a means of preserving peace.

Previously, Trump had defended the current negotiation process with the Islamic Republic and stated that Washington would either achieve a “big and meaningful agreement” or no agreement at all.
