“Medical department of Tehran university and public clinics are responsible for distributing the recovery medicines in a low price to those who are suffering from drug addiction and decided to quit. Yet the large amount of these medicines have been sold to the free market with much higher prices,” said the reporter.

Many addicted persons stop their recovery process each year due to the high expense of the medicines, supposed to be offered in affordable price.

“For example the scheduled price for Metadol recovery medicine is only 5000 Toman in the public clinics, but the same recovery drug has been sold for 70,000 Toman in the free market,” Avatoday reporter found out.

Illegal trade of drugs and corruption has been kept silent among the authorities for years with no government interference in the illegal business.
