Kurdish poet and activist Aram Fathi has been reportedly on trial on Sunday without the attendance of a lawyer to represent him, authorities told his family according to his friend.

Fathi was arrested on Saturday and his charge remains unknown as authorities denied informing his family or allowing a lawyer to represent his case.

Authorities have reportedly informed his family on Monday that Fathi was on trial the day before, but did not elaborate on his charge and did not allow any lawyer to represent him in the court.

The activist’s family members are especially worry about his health condition, according to his friend who asked to remain unknown due to security reason.

“Aram is in a critical health condition. He is in an immediate need of his medicines,” his friend said, adding that the authorities did not accept to receive some of Fathi’s medicines provided by his family.

“He is suffering from Rheumatism and must be injected the day after tomorrow, but the security forces did not accept his injection,” another friend of Fathi explained.

Fathi, from the Kurdish city of Mariwan, is a civil right activist who has been working on local charity programs. He is also known as a prominent human right activist in Mariwan.
