Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh, Iran’s ambassador in Ankara, following a ballistic missile launched from Iran that entered Turkish airspace. During the meeting, Turkey’s protest and concerns over the incident were formally conveyed to the ambassador.
According to official Turkish media, Ankara expressed its dissatisfaction and serious concern regarding the missile incident after Habibollahzadeh was called to the ministry.
Earlier, the Ministry of National Defence had announced that a ballistic missile fired from Iran and entering Turkish airspace was intercepted and neutralized by NATO’s air and missile defense systems over the eastern Mediterranean.
In a phone call with Abbas Araghchi, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan conveyed Ankara’s protest over the ballistic missile that had entered Turkish airspace before being intercepted. He emphasized the need to avoid any actions that could escalate tensions further.
Separately, the Head of Communications of the Turkish Presidency issued a strongly worded statement declaring: “All necessary measures will be taken without hesitation to protect our land and airspace. Any hostile act will be met with a response.”
