The US officials have reportedly warned Chinese ship companies against violating US sanctions by turning off their ships ‘transponders while carrying out Iranian oils, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

“We’ve been messaging very heavily to the shipping companies, you don’t want to do this, it’s not worth it,” said one official, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity. “It’s incredibly dangerous and irresponsible behavior.”

In May 2018, US president Donald Trump withdrew from Iran’s nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The international sanctions were re-imposed on Tehran since then.

US blames Iran for its destructive role in the Middle East, which caused instability and insecurity.

China remained Iran’s largest buyer despite the sanctions, which imposed in an effort to cut Iran’s oil to zero.
