Nawaf Salam, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, said on Sunday (March 22) that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is in charge of Hezbollah’s operations in its ongoing war with Israel.

In an interview with Al-Hadath TV, he once again criticized Hezbollah for dragging Lebanon into Iran’s war with the United States and Israel by launching rockets at Israel.

He said: “It was announced that this war was in response to the killing of Ali Khamenei; therefore, this means the war has been imposed on us.”

Salam referred to an incident earlier this month in which an Iranian-made drone struck a British base in Nicosia, stating: “This was the work of the IRGC, which is present and unfortunately manages military operations in Lebanon.”

He added: “These individuals entered the country using fake passports.”

Earlier this month, an Iranian-made drone hit a British base in Cyprus, and Nicosia announced that the drone was likely launched by Iran-backed Hezbollah from inside Lebanon, not directly from Iran.

Salam also pointed to the IRGC’s announcement of joint operations with Hezbollah against Israel as evidence that the war in Lebanon is being directed.

The Lebanese government decided last month to ban any activity by the IRGC within the country.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli military has stated that Israeli forces are preparing to expand ground operations inside Lebanese territory.
