Iran said it needs stronger guarantee from the United States and a better text to revive the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Amirabdollahian said the foreign minister said that Iran has received a text from the American side which is being examined in the Iranian Foreign Ministry with due care and speed.

He added that Tehran requires stronger guarantees from the US.

Amirabdollahian said that if the American side acts realistically and if the negotiating parties further strengthen the existing text, an agreement is not out of reach.

Iran will take “at least” until Sept. 2 to respond to the Biden administration’s comments on an EU-drafted text aimed at reviving the 2015 nuclear deal, state-run Nour News said in a tweet on Sunday.

Tehran continues to “carefully review the US’ response at an expert level,” according to Nour, which is closely aligned to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

The contents of the proposal have not been made public.

Britain, China, France, Germany, Iran and Russia, as well as the United States indirectly, resumed talks on the nuclear accord earlier this month.
