At least nine Kurdish citizens — Saeed Naderi, Hossein Behnamneh, Abolfazl Darbandi, Behzad Akbari, Saeed Yari, Mohammadamin Nazari, Yousef Khattavi, Adib Nazari, and Armin Piraei — were arrested by security forces in the cities of Abdanan and Sarableh in Ilam Province amid an ongoing wave of arbitrary detentions.

According to information received by Avatoday, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, nine residents of Abdanan — including 35-year-old Saeed Naderi; 27-year-old Hossein Behnamneh from the Hazarani township; 20-year-old Abolfazl Darbandi, also from Hazarani; 35-year-old Behzad Akbari; Saeed Yari; Mohammadamin Nazari; 34-year-old Yousef Khattavi; Adib Nazari; and Armin Piraei — were detained by security forces.

The arrests took place simultaneously with a ceremony marking the 40th day since the state killing of Alireza Seidi, a 16-year-old from Abdanan.

During the memorial gathering, government forces reportedly opened fire on attendees, injuring at least three people. The arrests were carried out without the presentation of judicial warrants and reportedly involved the use of violence.

As of the time of reporting, no precise information is available regarding the charges against these individuals or their place and conditions of detention, and efforts by their families to obtain information have so far been unsuccessful.
