Reuters, citing the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, reported that talks on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States are continuing in Bürgenstock.

In a relatively brief statement issued on Saturday, June 20, the Swiss Foreign Ministry said it continues to provide "a confidential and trusted environment" to facilitate the talks and, due to the confidential nature of the negotiations, would not release further information.

The ministry declined to provide details regarding the participants or the substance of the negotiations.

Earlier on Saturday, Axios reported that Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were traveling to Switzerland. However, later that afternoon, Iran's Foreign Ministry released photographs of Araghchi meeting with Pakistan's Interior Minister in Tehran, stating that the meeting took place "on Saturday evening."

It had previously been reported that the recent escalation in fighting between Israel and Hezbollah had led to the cancellation of U.S. Vice President JD Vance's planned trip to Switzerland, raising questions about the future of the negotiations.

Axios reported on Saturday that Witkoff was traveling to Switzerland to join Jared Kushner, who is already in the country, and that Abbas Araghchi was also expected to arrive in Switzerland later that day. According to Axios, these developments could signal that both sides are preparing to begin technical negotiations aimed at reaching a more durable agreement.

The White House has not responded to Reuters' inquiries regarding Witkoff's reported trip. However, a senior U.S. official told the news agency that the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah had been achieved through mediation by the United States and Qatar, with assistance from Iran.
