HRANA Reports at Least 50,000 Arrests in Recent Protests

HRANA News Agency, the media arm of the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists (HRA), announced that Iranian authorities have arrested more than 50,000 people during the crackdown on nationwide protests, with new arrests still ongoing.

According to the report, published on Tuesday, February 3, HRANA stated that at least 50,235 individuals have been arrested in connection with the recent protests.

The report notes that among these cases, 106 student arrests, 303 instances of forced confessions, and 11,046 summonses have been recorded. It also documents 666 protest-related incidents across 209 cities in 31 provinces.

According to the organization, the scope of arrests has encompassed a wide range of citizens, including students, writers, and teachers. In some cases, security forces reportedly conducted home searches and confiscated personal belongings at the time of arrest.

HRANA further reported that, based on the latest aggregated data up to the 37th day since the start of the protests, the total number of confirmed deaths has reached 6,854.

According to these figures, 6,430 of those killed are categorized as protesters, while 152 victims are listed as children under the age of 18. The report also records 214 deaths among government-affiliated forces and 58 individuals classified as “civilian non-protesters.” An additional 11,280 cases remain under investigation.
