A group of students from Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran Branch issued a statement declaring that silence in the face of killings, repression, and the systematic violation of citizens’ rights—particularly those who are merely seeking their most basic freedoms—is contrary to public conscience, fundamental human rights principles, and recognized norms of international law.

The statement asserts that the use of lethal violence against peaceful protests, along with the mass arrest of civil activists, students, and professors, reflects a persistent, deliberate, and organized pattern of human rights violations by the Islamic Republic.

It further describes the government’s conduct as lacking moral legitimacy and having no standing in the informed conscience of Iranian society.

According to the statement, direct and undeniable responsibility for the current situation lies with the ruling executive, security, and law enforcement bodies, and ultimately with Ali Khamenei, as the highest decision-making authority within the Islamic Republic’s power structure.

The students argue that under established principles of individual responsibility in international law, accountability is possible and that, from this perspective, he will inevitably face history, justice, and legal accountability mechanisms—whether in life or after death.

Simultaneously, the news agency Tavana News Agency reported on X that two students from Islamic Azad University, North Tehran Branch—Mehran Khani and Arian Hosseini—remain in detention with no clear information about their condition.

Mehran Khani, a sports sciences student born in 2002, has been detained by security forces since January 8, 2026. Arian Hosseini, also a sports sciences student at the same university branch, is likewise being held in custody.

According to Tavana, both students have been transferred to Fashafouyeh Prison, and no detailed information has yet been released regarding their legal cases or the charges they may face.
