Amir Mobarez Parastar, head of the Munich Eye Center, said in an interview with an Iranian media outlet that, based on precise information provided to him, more than 6,000 people with eye injuries have visited Noor Eye Clinic in Tehran over the past few days.

Speaking on Thursday, 15 January 2026, he stated: “Recording such figures from just one medical center clearly demonstrates the scale and severity of eye injuries in recent days.”

This is not the first time that gunfire by the Islamic Republic’s repression forces against protesters has resulted in widespread eye injuries.

During the 2022 ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ uprising, the Islamic Republic systematically and deliberately wounded hundreds of protesters across Iran using pellet guns and paintball weapons, causing many to lose vision in one or both eyes.

Following the complete internet shutdown on the evening of 8 January 2026, communication between Iranian citizens and the outside world has effectively been severed.

Nevertheless, limited and fragmented information emerging from Iran indicates that the Islamic Republic has carried out a widespread, systematic, and deadly repression against protesters.

Shirin Ebadi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, told Deutsche Welle that she expects Donald Trump to take action to stop the killing of the Iranian people. She said: “Preventing the killing of people does not require war; we want the killing of people to stop.”

In the same interview, Ebadi added: “Cutting off the Islamic Republic’s communication channels, including state broadcasting, and physically eliminating Khamenei and IRGC commanders could help the people of Iran.”
