Teachers of primary schools in Iran on Tuesday gathered in front of the parliament in Tehran urging the government to review “the unfair terms” of their contracts.

Photos and videos received by Avatoday showed teachers holding banners asking for equality between teachers who are permanently employed by the government and teachers who only have temporary contracts.

“There is two million toman difference of the salary between me as a contract-based teacher and a permanent teacher who is teaching in the class next to me,” one of the banners read.

A teacher who was participating in the gathering told Avatoday that the main demand of the teachers is changing the terms of the contracts to maintain equality and justice.
