The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has figured out that Iranian government has recently recruited at least 2000 Syrians to fight alongside Iranian forces in Syria.

According to the report, recruits, most of whom are from Syria’s Deir Ezzor, are receiving Iran’s direct funding, military training and logistical support.

“Sources presenting documented information stress that recruits are on Iranian payroll that ranges from 48,000 Syrian pounds to 75,000 Syrian pounds, varying according to both rank and time in service,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Tuesday.

Despite the international calls for its departure, Tehran is actively participating in Syrian war, supporting Bashar Assad’s regime.

The head of Iran's Martyrs Foundation announced in 2017 that 2,100 Iranian combatants had been killed in Syria while "defending the shrine.” The actual number is believed to be much higher than the official report.
