On Saturday, May 23, NetBlocks announced that network data indicates Iran’s internet shutdown has entered its thirteenth week, with the country’s period of “digital isolation” from the world surpassing 2,016 hours on its 85th day.

According to the internet monitoring organization, most citizens in Iran continue to face severe restrictions or complete disruption of access to the global internet — a situation that has affected daily life, work, education, access to information, and ordinary communications for millions of people.

NetBlocks stated that this level of disconnection deprives citizens of opportunities and information that are available within seconds in many other countries.

The report comes as Iranian authorities have still not provided a clear timeline for restoring internet access. At the same time, initiatives such as the so-called “Pro Internet” plan have reportedly limited access to the international internet to selected groups only.

Meanwhile, according to published air-route data, an aviation notice has been issued restricting or prohibiting flights over parts of western Iran.

The flight restrictions are expected to remain in place until Monday, May 25.

This type of aviation notice, commonly known as a NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions), is used to inform pilots and airlines about potential hazards, route restrictions, airspace closures, or other conditions that may affect flight safety.
